CV Engineer
Tampere or Helsinki
Company
NestAI is Europe’s fastest-growing physical AI lab. We build open, sovereign, and reliable autonomous systems and AI-enabled command capabilities for real-world operations — environments where reliability isn’t optional.
Our work spans defence, security, and other mission-critical domains where systems must earn trust through performance, not promises. At the core of what we build is an open, modular, and interoperable AI command foundation that integrates data from multiple sources — from UAV sensors and edge devices to situational intelligence platforms — and turns it into decision support and operational capability.
Rooted in Nordic engineering heritage, we focus on openness, reliability, and systems that earn trust through performance. We work with intent, iterate fast, and build technology that protects what matters most.
Role Description
We are looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to join our team full-time in Tampere or Helsinki.
In this role, you will design and implement computer vision systems that enable physical AI to perceive and understand the world. You’ll work across the full development lifecycle — from data acquisition and model design to real-time deployment on embedded and edge devices. Collaborating closely with our AI researchers, robotics, and hardware teams, you’ll help bridge the gap between perception algorithms and physical interaction.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Designing, training, and optimizing computer vision and perception models for real-time and embedded use cases. Developing image and video processing pipelines, including data collection, labeling, and augmentation.
- Implementing and evaluating algorithms for object detection, tracking, segmentation, and 3D understanding. Integrating CV models into embedded or cloud systems for real-world deployment.
- Experimenting with state-of-the-art architectures (e.g., transformers, diffusion models, NeRFs) and adapting them for physical AI.
- Collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure efficient inference and robust performance in challenging environments.
- Conducting rapid prototyping, benchmarking, and reporting results to guide technical decisions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in computer vision and deep learning (e.g., CNNs, vision transformers, 3D perception).
- Proficiency in Python and experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Hands-on experience with OpenCV, ONNX, or similar libraries for model deployment and optimization.
- Familiarity with real-time inference on GPUs, edge, or embedded systems (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, TensorRT).
- Understanding of camera systems, image calibration, and sensor fusion.
- Experience with data pipelines, CI/CD, and Linux-based development.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, with attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, or multimodal perception is a strong plus.
- Background in 3D vision, SLAM, or spatial AI is considered an advantage.
- Publications in top computer vision or robotics venues are considered an advantage.
Why join NestAI
At NestAI, you’ll build meaningful, real-world technology as part of a world-class team of engineers, scientists, and experienced professionals. You’ll work on systems where reliability genuinely matters, contribute to Europe’s security and resilience, and solve problems that demand depth, trust, and craftsmanship.
If you want to build with purpose — and with leading experts in the field — you’ve come to the right place.
